FNS Bancshares Senior Management

Alan K. Gay
Executive Chairman
Alan K. Gay joined the FNS Bancshares, Inc. board in 2004 and the FNB Bank board in 2006. He was named Executive Chairman of FNB Bank in 2008 and Executive Chairman of FNS Bancshares in 2009. He is a co-owner of BuyMetrics, Inc. and served as its CEO from 2001 to 2015. Mr. Gay was a corporate officer of Georgia-Pacific from 1996 to 2001, where he had operational, marketing, procurement, and IT management responsibilities. Prior to joining Georgia-Pacific, Mr. Gay was an IBM Global Services Vice-President, responsible for consulting services, outsourcing, value-add networking, and business recovery services in the Southeast U.S. Mr. Gay began his career at IBM in 1981 and served in various sales, sales management, and executive leadership roles in Dallas, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. Mr. Gay is a graduate of Harvard University.
Stephen M. Rownd
President and CEO
Stephen M. Rownd joined the company in 2015 as President, CEO and Director of FNS Bancshares and FNB Bank. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Rownd had led successful distressed bank turnarounds as CEO of Green Bank, a NASDAQ bank in Greenville, Tennessee and Bank of Northwest Georgia, located in suburban Chattanooga. Mr. Rownd’s career includes over 37 years of banking, with 29 of those years in executive leadership roles. His breadth of experience spans all facets of community banking including retail and commercial banking, credit risk management, and bank operations. Mr. Rownd began his career with Barnett Banks in Florida and later moved to executive assignments at First National Bank of Gainesville in Georgia, SunTrust Bank in Florida, and First Charter in North Carolina before joining Green Bank in 2011. Mr. Rownd is a graduate of Haverford College, where he earned a BS in Economics.
C. Tobey Eskew
Executive VP and Chief Financial Officer
Tobey Eskew joined the Company in 2019 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Eskew has 20 years of banking experience and was formerly the Chief Accounting Officer for Hamilton State Bank in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Eskew also served as Controller for FSG Bank in Chattanooga, Tennessee and spent fourteen years in public accounting specializing in the banking industry in Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina. His breadth of experience spans all facets of community banking including financial and regulatory reporting, internal controls, and capital planning and budgeting. Mr. Eskew is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BS in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified in Financial Forensics.
Steven G. Beaird
Secretary
Steve Beaird was named EVP, Chief Operating and Client Experience Officer in 2019, after serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 2004. Mr. Beaird joined the company in 1986 as Vice President of Operations when FNB Bank acquired Northeast State Bank of Alabama and served in progressively more senior leadership positions until his appointment to the executive leadership team in 2004. Mr. Beaird is also Executive Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer for FNS Bancshares, Inc., and has served the Alabama Banking School as school director, staff member and board director. Mr. Beaird graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Finance and from the BAI School of Bank Administration.

James W. Bergman
James W. Bergman, Sr. joined the FNS Bancshares, Inc. and FNB Bank boards in 2009. Mr. Bergman is a long-time Financial Advisor, having begun his career in 1991 until the present. He currently owns and operates an independent Raymond James office in Scottsboro, Alabama. Mr. Bergman currently serves as a member of the Jackson County Healthcare Authority board and is a former President of the Scottsboro Lions Club, Scottsboro Rotary Club, and the Marshall-Jackson Mental Health Board. Mr. Bergman is a graduate of Auburn University.
Randall H. Giles
Randall H. Giles retired as FNS Bancshares, Inc. President and FNB Bank CEO and President in 2015 after having served in various executive capacities with the bank since 1978. He has served on the Board of both the bank and holding company since December 1994. Mr. Giles has over 48 years of experience in banking. He is a past board member of the Alabama Bankers Association past chair of several committees of that organization. Mr. Giles is a graduate of Auburn University and the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking.
Christopher J. Green
Dr. Christopher J. Green joined the FNS Bancshares, Inc. and FNB Bank boards in 2018. He is a radiologist with Radiology of Huntsville, which serves the northeast Alabama area. Dr. Green is a former chief of staff at Highlands Medical Center. After graduating from Auburn University, Dr. Green obtained his medical degree and diagnostic radiology residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Hoyt E. Harbin III
Hoyt E. Harbin, III joined the FNB Bank and FNS Bancshares, Inc. board in 1992. Mr. Harbin is the third-generation president and dealer principal of Harbin Automotive, which owns automobile dealerships in Scottsboro, Alabama. Mr. Harbin serves on the board of trustees for Northeast Alabama Community College and is a past president of the Jackson County, Alabama Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Harbin is a graduate of the University of Alabama.
Paul M. Holland
M. Paul Holland, O.D. joined the FNS Bancshares, Inc. and FNB Bank boards in 2000. Dr. Holland has been in private practice since 1977 in Scottsboro, Alabama and is a past president of the Scottsboro Rotary club. Dr. Holland holds a degree in optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Donald E. Webb
Donald E. Webb joined the FNB Bank and FNS Bancshares, Inc. Board in 1999. Mr. Webb’s 47 year career with State Farm Insurance Company includes 20 years of agency management. Mr. Webb also has managed a family-owned oil distribution company and a convenience store group. Mr. Webb is a graduate of Auburn University and was a three-year letterman in football while earning his degree.

Stephen M. Rownd

Stephen M. Rownd joined the company in 2015 as President, CEO and Director of FNS Bancshares and FNB Bank. Michael Baggett
Executive VP and Chief Loan Officer
Mike Baggett joined the company in 2005 as Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. His breadth of experience spans all facets of community banking including retail and commercial banking, credit risk management, and bank operations. Mr. Baggett began his banking career at Regions Bank, where he was the senior lender for the North Alabama region immediately prior to joining FNB Bank. Mr. Baggett’s earlier assignments at Regions included retail banking and credit risk management. He was a senior credit officer for the North Alabama region prior to moving into loan production. Mr. Baggett graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Finance and a Masters of Business Administration.
Brenda Barnes
Executive VP and Retail Banking Executive
Brenda Barnes joined the company in 2017 as Executive Vice President of Retail Banking when FNS Bancshares acquired Peoples Bancshares Inc. Ms. Barnes has over 42 years of banking experience in all areas including forming an operation center for a multi-bank holding company. Prior to joining the company, Ms. Barnes was the Chairman/President and CEO of Peoples State Bank. She has been very involved with Alabama Bankers and Tennessee Bankers throughout her career and was featured in the Community Bankers of Alabama Publication of Women in Banking. MS. Barnes serves on the Board of Economic Development of Marshall County and has previously chaired the Board for 6 years. Ms. Barnes graduated from Samford University with a bachelor’s degree in Management/Business.

Michael J. Blackwell
Executive VP and Chief Credit Officer
Mike Blackwell joined the company in 2017 as Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer. Prior to joining FNB Bank, Mr. Blackwell was formerly the Chief Credit Officer at First Advantage Bank in Clarkesville, Tennessee and Senior Credit Officer for FSG Bank in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Previously, Mr. Blackwell’s 35-year banking career included 25 years in leadership positions in commercial lending, correspondent banking, and treasury service at First Tennessee Bank and Synovus Bank. Mr. Blackwell is a graduate of the University of South Alabama and the LSU Graduate School of Banking.

Larry Peterson
Executive VP and Chief Risk Officer
Larry Peterson was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer in 2014, with responsibility for compliance and risk management. He also serves as liaison to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors. Mr. Peterson had joined the company in 2012 as Managing Director, Payment Services Division. Prior to joining FNB Bank, Mr. Peterson was President and CEO of Fidelity Bank in Atlanta and Creekside Bank in Woodstock, Georgia. Prior to moving to Atlanta, Mr. Peterson was with KeyCorp and predecessor organizations for 17 years serving in multiple executive management positions in commercial and retail banking. Mr. Peterson graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Finance and from Stonier Graduate School of Banking – Rutgers University with a Masters in Banking.
